BioReading is my primary hobby. I'm the sort to carry a book with me in my purse just in case I get stuck in traffic and need something to do for the next ten minutes or more. I read to relax; so, I don't read much non-fiction as far as actual books go. For learning, I tend to read articles and news online. My fiction preferences are in the fantasy and scifi areas. My favorite author is Patricia McKillip, but I read a good deal so I follow quite a few authors.
I also watch anime (aka Japanese animation). I don't have a preferred genre. In fact, I often watch shows that just aren't very good. About the only things I avoid are excessive fanservice and shows defined as hentai. I find it hard to identify a specific favorite show because I don't really combine separate genres in my mind. I tend to like shows like Mushishi and Noein best, but I also enjoy shows like Loveless or even Bleach if you need a truly mainstream example.
Music is another pleasure in my life. I am not bound to understand the words to enjoy it either. Outside of the expected bands like U2, Tool, and Incubus, I like various Japanese artists including Utada Hikaru and Kokia. I even have a real affection for Garmarna.
