If you woke up on a dirty bathroom floor with no idea how you got there, what would you think?  What would you feel?  Suppose you looked down and noticed that both your wrists were slashed and bleeding? 

Well, the main character in my husband's new video game just woke up in that circumstance, and with no other evidence assumed he cut his own wrists.  Quite frankly, I think that is full of shit.  If I woke up in that situation, you can bet that my first thought would be, "Who did this to me?"  The game developer even neglected to include a sharp object in the scene  which is just a dead give away, but the character was too ignorant to make a connection. 

Really what does it say about you if your first thought is, "I cut my wrists."  Heck, even if you did cut your wrists for some reason, I would think you would remember something about the situation leading up to it.  Depression isn't really a surprise event.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? 
I love gift bags with tissue and ribbon spewing out the top, but I'll wrap and decorate when necessary.  Some things just don't fit in a bag.

2. Real tree or Artificial?
Real unless someone in my home is allergic.  I love the smell.  I like them tall with some character like a strange twisting top.  I've managed to get greater than 6ft trees in my little hatchback car on more than one occasion.

3. When do you put up the tree? 
Whenever i feel like buying one.

4. When do you take the tree down?
After it dies which is normally not to long.  I water them with warm water, but I don't seem to have the touch.

5. Do you like eggnog?  
Nope.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? 
One of those enormous stuffed unicorns that every girl wants at some one.  I just got mine later than most, but then I think I enjoyed mine more for it being a bit out of my age range.  Here is where I say thanks to parents that always did their best for me.

7. Hardest person to buy for? 
My dad.  He buys everything he wants or needs before I even know what it might be.

8. Easiest person to buy for? 
My husband.  He is kind enough to just tell me what he wants when I ask.  I return that favor as I can. 

9. Do you have a nativity scene? 
One.  It was a gift from my aunt & uncle.  But, I don't put it out.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? 
I like real cards, but I don't mail cards out or anything.  I just hand them out at work and such.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?  I'm not sure.  I think it was a sweater from my husband's family.  It wasn't that it was ugly.  It was that it was child-sized.  Umm... I'm not a 12 year old girl.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? 
I don't have a traditional Xmas movie.  I've seen funny ones or moving ones a time or two, but I can't say that I have one I think of to watch. 

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? 
I don't have to do much shopping really; so, basically whenever the seasonal sales begin.  Mostly after Thanksgiving. 

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? 
Yes.  I re-gifted an ornament I received.  However, it wasn't because I was cheap.  It was because I didn't like it and knew the other person would. 

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? 
Sugar cookies decorated and shaped for the season.  There is this little gift shop somewhere in Illinois that bakes the cookies. 

16. Lights on the tree?
Oh yeah!.  Brighter is better

17. Favorite Christmas song?  
I don't really like normal xmas music.  Of the few songs I like, I can't remember any names. 

18.Travel at Christmas or stay home? 
I like to stay at home, but I also enjoy seeing my relatives occasionally.  So, I do the visiting thing every few years.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? 
No.  I would need help. 

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? 
Always a star.  There is no angel that can top a clear glass shining star. 

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? 
In the morning.  I don't do the early present thing unless someone will be out of town. 

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
The endless xmas music playing everywhere.  It drives me nuts. 

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? 
I love a rainbow of colored transparent glass bulb ornaments with silver garland and colored lights.  It is like a rainbow flashing on my walls.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? 
Just to be able to relax and enjoy talking to my family about nothing ... and maybe a pink pushie bun-bun from Ouran.  

I still can't come up with useful content of my own.  So, I'm usurping the following "controversial meme" which is indirectly taken from nO_leaf_clover. 

1. Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
I'm doing the survey, but it isn't anything I don't discussion in person with other people all the time. 

2. Would you do meth if it was legal?
No.  Why would I want to fuck myself up mentally or physically?  I'll have enough medical problems just due to wear'n'tear over time. 

3. Abortion: for or against it?
I believe it is best to allow people that option legally.  First off, people will do it whether it is legal or not... and the results of illegal abortions are horrific at best.  Second of all, if you force someone to breed against their will you are basically enslaving them.  And finally, although of course there are numerous exceptions, unwanted children generally have really crappy lives.  I don't think forced breeding to produce a life of pain is any better than a quick immediate death.  In a prefect world, people would never get pregnant on accident and this would be a non-issue.  But, since it is not a prefect world then I feel that lives lost early in death are not any worse lives lost later after much suffering.  It should be a choice.

4. Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Arrogant much?  This is a retarded question... the world is not the US.  The US does have impact on the rest of the world, but the job of the President is care for the country and its citizens first.  I don't see why a woman couldn't do that as well as a man.  And from the international perspective, if a woman can't do as well in dealing with some leaders from countries that don't acknowledge the capabilities of women, well I don't really see a problem with that... since, we shouldn't be doing business with oppressive governments.  I don't see where having a man talk AT North Korea while they ignore the US is any different than having a woman talk AT some gender biased country.  In these cases it is more about the media working to educate the populace for when an opportunity for changes eventually arises. 

5. Do you believe in the death penalty?
Yes.  You kill rabid dogs rather than leaving them around to infect others with there madness.  Suffering spreads exponentially when we let them out to rape and kill again and again.  Mind you I am not arrogant enough to decide who lives or dies myself.  However, since I believe it is the right option in some cases, I would be willing to bear the burden of blood for those cases I believe in. 

Sidenote:  If you won't take the action yourself, then I don't believe you really support the action at all. 

6. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
I don't care except that the tax money would be useful. 


7. Are you for or against premarital sex?
If the parties are consenting, then I don't see a problem with it.  I hope they have the sense to use the appropriate preventative measures to avoid diseases and pregnancy, but I don't think sex is some glorious high ideal.  It is something fun do that comes with its own special edge of danger.  You can have nasty physical consequences (and I do consider unwanted pregnancy to be one such), but more importantly it entails horrific emotional dangers.  Nothing like a bad relationship where sexual interaction played a heavy role  to really break a person down.  But you know, marriage certainly doesn't protect against any of the above risks.  You can still get nasty diseases and pregnant when you don't want to be.  Only marriage has even more potential to destroy you emotionally; since, it carries these ideas of permanence and perfection.  So, I suppose I think premarital sex is a non-issue. 

8. Do you believe in God?
Sure, but is my god your god? 

9. Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
I think bindings between the same gender should be legal without question.   Now marriage is a religious institution; so, I think it should be up to the church in question whether they recognize it.  I firmly believe in the separation of church and state.  If people wish to be legally paired and receive the legal benefits of such a state, then I just cannot understand how their own government has the right to deny them.  Governments should serve the people.  Of course, I don't agree that churches should be exempt from taxes either.  They are businesses that take in money.  They should pay with all the other businesses. 

Note:  Please do not confuse religion with churches.  Religions are methods of looking at and understanding the world and a person's place in it.  Churches are businesses that provide religious services to their faithful. 

10. Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Well I wish they weren't since it isn't helping them or the US, but I don't think it is "wrong" to want to find a better place to live and work.  I just moved from an apartment to a house myself.  Is that wrong? 

11. A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Well, I'm not going to decide for her in fact, but no she shouldn't.  I doubt she has the experience to make an educated decision, but  from what I have seen 12 year-olds with babies pretty much have sucky lives across the board whether they know it or not.  Then again I'm not going to make her kill the baby, or refuse to allow her to spend nine months suffering to breeding it up just so she can put it up for adoption if that is her choice. 

12. Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
If it would decrease alcohol abuse and alcohol related deaths, then I fine with that.  If not, then why bother.  More research please?  I don't see where lowering it would necessarily remove the idea of  "forbidden" from it.  That is the problem more than the actual age. 

13. Should the war in Iraq be called off?
I didn't support it to begin with.  It was always about greed.  But, I believe you finish what you start.  The US fucked the existing system up.  We don't leave till we get a functioning system in place.  If that costs more lives, then so be it.  Obviously wasting our citizens lives was ok with the greedy SOB's in the first place.  You can't suddenly pretend to care when you didn't before.  That card is denied you in my book.  I hate it that so many of our soldiers are dying, but that is what they are paid to do sadly enough. 

14. Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
It should be legal.  If someone wants to die, that is their right.  If they need help to make it less painful, then we should offer it. 

15. Do you believe in spanking your children?
Does it work?  I don't like pain as a tool personally, but I know that it works with me.  If I burn myself cooking, I don't do the same stupid thing again.  I managed to scrape up my hands working in the yard last week.  I'll wear gloves next time.  My problem with spanking is thus:  children are not adults.  Their brains are still organizing themselves.  They don't understand the world in the same complex way we do.  If spanking is ruling by fear, then I don't approve.  I don't approve because then they aren't really avoiding the behavior because they understand the problem with it.  They are avoiding it because they fear you.  That isn't doing your job as a parent.  Your job is to create productive members of society.  It is not to produce people that will do whatever they want when they stop fearing you.  As far as I understand the research now, it may be a good option with very small children because they are too simple to understand the actual reasons behind why they shouldn't do something.  They cry because they dislike being wet... and so they are changed.  Maybe "do not throw things" taught with pain would be ok.  However as soon as they can understand the reasons why something is wrong, then I think you should be explaining the reasons instead of resorting to force.  I don't have children myself though so I don't know that I'm having a valid opinion. 

16. Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
I suppose.  A flag is not a country.  It is a piece of cloth. 

17. Who do you think would make a better president?
Can I just say that I wanted them all to die in a fire in the first place?  I don't like any of them.  Palin's let the already suffering rape victims pay money for their rape kits is no less objectionable than Obama's lets take money from the rich because they are rich.  Seriously, you can't take money from wealthy people just because they are wealthy.  Where are your morals?  Besides, it is counterproductive.  If he gets serious about taking money from the wealthy, they will just move their money and businesses overseas to friendlier climes leaving him with no one to take money from.  McCain is crappy status quo bail them out bail them out.  I thought we were capitalists?  When you screw up you fail in capitalism.  And that would be fine, someone else would take over with a different system.  Bailing out the existing system just wastes money propping up something that is obviously not sustainable and completely subject to greed.  I'm voting for greed because I think Obama's idealism will have one of two results.  Either he will get nothing done because the rich people will be interfering with his day hardcore or the economy will become even more unstable as the wealthy move to make their assets exempt from his pilferings.

No.  No one reads my posts because I never post.

I actually completed a meme as a journal post.  I'll need to work on some actually content at some point. 

1) Are you currently in a serious relationship?
I'm married to someone I actually don't have a problem being married to; so, yes!  If I didn't like being married to him, I'd say no regardless. 

2) What was your dream growing up?
I had lots of dreams growing up.  I'm not sure one was particularly more important than any other.  I did, and I still do want a house with a small stream in the backyard. 

3) What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I had a singing quality voice.  I don't want to be a singer or anything.  I just would like to able to sound good when I'm singing along with my favorite music. 

4) If I bought you a drink what would it be?
If you asked, then a short shot of a good whiskey in Cherry Coke.  If you didn't, then I'd accept it with a polite smile, carry it around a bit, and then disappear it in an inconspicuous place. 

5) Favorite vegetable?

6) What was the last book you read?
I tried to read Robin McKinley's Dragonhaven, but I put it down unfinished.  I'll get back to it eventually.  I've been stuck on Carol Berg's Flesh and Spirit for two weeks now.  I know the last good book I read was Child of a Rainless Year by Jane Lindskold. 

7) What zodiac sign are you?
Scorpio is sufficiently explanatory. 

8) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where.
I just have the standard ear-piercings.  Earring are pretty much the only jewelry I can wear.  My skin reacts badly to chaffing and constriction.

9) Worst Habit?
I'm a suggester by nature.  My husband tells me this is my worst habit.  I don't tell people what to do.  I suggest several recourses instead. 

10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?
No.  I wouldn't even think of it.

Football i.e. the soccer kind

12) Do you have a Negative or Optimistic attitude?
I guess I have a negative attitude, but I don't think that is an accurate measure of my opinions.  I don't think everything sucks, and we are all doomed.  It is just that if you ask me how the traffic will probably be, I will definitely think it will be bad.  However, that is because it probably will be bad, not because I think it has to be. 

13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
Umm... Don't get stuck in an elevator with me.  I'm OK in one for the ride, but any time frame that could be classified as stuck would eventually bring out my fear of enclosed spaces.  I don't think I would devolve into a screaming lunatic, but I would definitely be looking really really upset.

15) Tell me one weird fact about you.
I'm not particularly weird.  I do have this unusual tendency to read books completely out of order.  I'll read the end, then the middle, then more of the end, and then the beginning.  I just tend to flip to places and start reading.  Then I'll get bored and skip somewhere else. 

16) Do you have any pets?
Not at the moment.  I've had a rabbit, a parakeet, and  several cats. 

17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?
I would decide based on your appearance.  If I thought you were hurt or in trouble, then I would scope out the surroundings and drag you inside, if the coast was clear. or call for help  If you look like a sales person or like you may have a cohort around the corner waiting to break-in, then I would query you carefully before opening the door.

Well, that really depends on the clown.  I mean most of them are just kind of there, right?  I suppose either could be appropriate.

I'd like to be taller.  I don't want to be towering or anything.  I just would like a wee bit more height.

I'd be whichever one was suitable to my own personality.  If you wanted to kill someone and I thought you shouldn't, then I would try to convince you not to.  If I thought the bastard deserved to die, then I would help you commit the prefect murder.

gray-blue-green-yellow....  They are rather Hazel  Extreme.

I use some swear words frequently, but I don't have a particularly dirty mouth.  I don't like to get too much into the habit.  They tend to escape in polite company if they become too much a part of my common vocabulary.

I hate people who can't get their shit together.  If you have a job, then you do it.  If you can't do the job, then you own up to the problem and get some help.  Don't BS me about the difficulties or whatever.  If you need my help, I won't think less of you.  If you pretend you don't and screw my shit up in the process, well I don't have any use for you at all.

Realist

I don't see much romance in the real world because people are too complex for it.  I do think it is possible.  In a purely fictional setting, I love a good happy ending.  In fact, the well designed and thoroughly reasonable happy ending is my favored part of fiction.

I believe in the possibility of God.  I don't pretend to behave in a certain because of him/her/it/them...

AN:  This is a short meant to be placed after the end of episode 23. 

I seriously need to find my reading zone.  I have Carol Berg's Flesh and Spirit on my desk beside me.  I've been desperately trying to finish it for over a week.  I already skipped through to the end, ordered and received its sequel Breathe and Bone in the mail, and spent two otherwise clear nights binge watching various anime series.  I just cannot get through the middle of the book.  It isn't like I didn't read the end already (as well as, and this is a first read, some of the sequel).  I also have three other books on my shelf that I purchased with it which I think I will enjoy much more if and when I ever get through my Berg Block. 

It should be noted that gift cards to bookstores burn holes in my pockets.  The burn holes problem is further demonstrated by the fact I ordered YESTERDAY a bunch manga that I could not and would never have justified if not for the fact of another gift card.  So, it is of paramount importance that I find my focus and read the rest of this book now.  It is 488 paperback pages of which I have completed 320.  I could finish it in an hour if I would just stop chatting on irc, watching anime, watching my husband play WoW, etc...
